My KitchenAid mixer IS Superman. When you force it to beat 20 cups of powdered sugar and 3 pounds of butter, of course it is gonna spew all over the walls, the floor and my apron. I've had this baby for 22 years and it is still working hard.
This cake was for the Outdoors for All "Heroes for All" themed gala auction on November 6 at the Design Center in Seattle. Out of 40 desserts, mine was the only one that was superhero themed. It was probably too much (too big) for one table of 10 -- four layers of golden butter cake with lemon curd filling. Plus, even though mine was a cool Superman cake, everyone likes decadent, delicious looking chocolate delights. Mine WAS delicious -- ya' just couldn't tell what it was from the outside.
