On the occasion of my kid's last year in the high school spring musical, we held our annual "dinner party before the show." This year's show, Once Upon a Mattress (The Princess and the Pea story) was set in medieval (ish) times, so the theme for dinner was "bring something that starts with a P, or something medievalish."
Kudos to J and J for starting things off with Stuffed Peppers, as their dish was also accompanied by a fancy scroll: "Peppers Packed with Poultry, Parmesan, and Barley seasoned with 'Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme' (suggest pairing with Pinotage)." Barley is very medievalish, you know! And the peppers tasted delish too!

Harkening back to my childhood days, I made the Layered PEA salad (appropriate with the layers just like mattresses, and of course the PEAS).

Thanks to K and R for bringing PASTA salad -- another yummy addition to the table starting with "P."

D, minus J, brought hot potato salad --- what was in that stuff besides bacon!!!?? Oh YUM!!!

K, R and G brought PEPSI and POTATO chips. Can't live without the Pepsi! (diet actually)

Next came roast POULTRY ...

and we finished things up with PASTRY -- already talked about on this blog. Was going to make PEAR pastry, but apples were on hand. French apple tart to be exact, but "Pastry" for this event.
Everything was gobbled up, then off we went to the show, which was fun for all.

Yes! Glad the peppers turned out okay -- I'm from the experimental school of cooking. We had a great time and really enjoyed the musical.
