I made the White Velvet Butter Cake again, and also made Golden Butter Cream Cake and Sour Cream Butter Cake. That is a LOT of cake!
I decided to try the cake strips (see prior post) on the Golden Butter Cream Cake, but not on the Sour Cream Butter cake -- just to see what would happen. The Sour Cream cake turned out quite a bit browner and domed without the strips.
After tasting, and tasting again, K and R chose the Golden Butter Cream Cake with Lemon Curd filling.
They want square shaped tiers, and we will do a five tier cake, with a white buttercream frosting. K is ordering the cake topper -- an "S" monogram. The wedding colors are black and hot pink, and the damask/flourish is dominant in all of her printed materials (invitations, programs, etc.) so the piping will be tied in to that theme.
These are pictures of cakes that K likes (found in magazines). This is the type of piping she is looking for...

Not counting the red flowers, this is very similar in style to what K and R want -- the monogram on the top, square tiers. This is just four -- theirs will be five, and they will keep the top tier to enjoy another day. Cake really doesn't taste great after being in the freezer for a year anniversary, so perhaps celebrating their one month anniversary would be a good time to have the top tier.

HOW are you doing the piping/decorations???!!! OMG. It'll be GORGEOUS, of course, coming from YOU. Mmm. And the Lemon Curd? I don't imagine you're opening a jar for that?! I love Lemon Curd (and Dad probably agrees). You must have a secret recipe for that, too.
ReplyDeleteI'll come to the wedding just for your cake! (Don't tell K that. I'd come to her wedding even with NO decorations, cake or anything...)
Well. She came to the right person. (Or, the right person offered. And look at all the great cake you've all had a chance to test in the process.)
